Thank You!
SciChem 2008 was held at Sandown Park Racecourse on the 29th and 30th April 2008. It was a huge success, providing training for 520 science teachers and technicians from 286 different Schools across the UK and Ireland. We offered an extended range of 16 seminars to delegates and for the first time this year, the event was opened out to Primary Schools, who had a separate, bespoke program.
As always, we are incredibly grateful for the support we received from our suppliers who helped make the whole event possible. Not only do they attend but they also support and host seminars and make generous donations for the charity raffle and sealed bid auction. There were 38 stands within the main exhibition showing a full range of educational products from disposables and glassware to furniture and fume cabinets. The local ASE also attended to promote their association, which aims to encourage excellence in science teaching and learning. Primary delegates had a dedicated exhibition area where they took part in a hands-on play session and could view an array of products.
Every year we raise money for a children’s charity local to the venue. This year we supported Chase Hospice Care for Children. Staff from the charity attended the event to help sell raffle tickets and speak to delegates about the important work they do. Through a raffle, sealed bid auction and kind donations, we raised the fantastic sum of £9,000, plus a further £300 after the event.
Finally, a big thank you must go to the in-house SciChem team who organised the event and ensured it ran as smoothly as possible!
Watch out for information on SciChem 2009, when the event is coming back to the Midlands!!
